South Port Sailing School 2010

Serving Windsor and Essex County for over 35 years South Port Sailing Club and the Junior Sailing Club of Windsor and Essex County are pleased to announce the continuation of our Adult, Kidsail and Youth Sailing Programs.

Space is limited in all our programs and we anticipate considerable interest. We would advise all interested parties to submit their application along with the $25.00 deposit, as soon as possible to reserve a place in their program of choice.

Youth Sailing Programs are tax deductible under the Children's Fitness Tax Credit and as a child care deduction for children under 12.

Adult Sailing Program Ages 16 & up

2010 Programs and Costs:

A one week Learn to Sail program running daily July 19-23, 9 a.m til 4 p.m. ( 35 hours) Courses will be taught aboard Sailing School Sharks. Cost is $350.00 per person. Minimum 6 sailors required to run the program.

Learn to Crew: $190.00
Get a head start on the sailing season aboard our Sailing School keelboats - Sharks and C&C 25
Course Dates: June 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22 evenings 6:30pm-9:30pm

Learn to Sail: $190.00
A course for beginning sailors aboard our 420's, Sharks and C&C 25
Course Dates:
*FULL* Session 1: June 24, 28 July 1, 5, 8, 12, 15 evenings 6:30pm-9:30pm
Session 2: July 26, 29, August 2, 5, 9, 12, 16 evenings 6:30pm-9:30pm

Youth Sailing Programs Ages 9 to 16

All programs are credited Canadian Yachting Association programs. Participants receive CYA proficiency badges as they progress through the various standards.

2010 Programs and Costs:
White Sail 1,2,3: $275.00, per child per session*
Bronze 4,5 and Silver: $285.00, per child per session*
*SPSC members earn $50 credit towards session.

2010 Course Dates:
Session 1: June 28 - July 16, mornings 8:30am to 12:30pm
Session 2: June 28 - July 16, afternoons 1:00pm to 5:00pm
*FULL* Session 3: July 26 - August 13, mornings 8:30am to 12:30pm
Session 4: July 26 - August 13, afternoons 1:00pm to 5:00pm

Instructors

  • All instructors at South Port Sailing School are certified by both the Canadian Yachting Association and Ontario Sailing Association.

Safety Requirements

  1. Each student must have his or her own Ministry of Transportation approved lifejacket, vest type, at all times.
  2. Each student must be able to swim 50 feet.
  3. Each student must be able to swim underwater.

Students may be tested to ensure they meet requirements 2 & 3

Enrollment

  • All applications, including adult programs, must be accompanied by either payment in full, or a non-refundable deposit of $25.00 and a post dated check for the balance to be dated 14 days prior to the start of your course.
  • Separate applications must be made for each space requested.
  • Refunds of balance will only be issued if notice of cancellation is received seven days prior to the start of class. Cancellations received on or after this day are non-refundable.
